Most of the Town of Chester has had electricity restored. However we do have a large amount of people in the Sugar Loaf area who are still without power, in particular near Pine Hill Road, Creamery Pond Road and across to Derose Lane.
I spoke to Orange and Rockland this evening and they said they expect the Town to be fully restored by November 6th including the Sugar Loaf area. Although it is frustrating, we are at the mercy of the utility company.
In the meantime, Please continue to look out for your neighbor especially the sick and elderly. The temperature is below freezing at night. Tomorrow marks a week since some people have lost power.
To make matters worse, we also have a Nor’easter scheduled to arrive in our area by midweek. We need to be aware that it could also affect our electric lines.
At this moment, all four of the gas stations in Chester are out of gasoline. Shipments have come in but are quickly exhausted due to the widespread shortage in NYC and NJ. Please be patient and courteous at the pumps. As long as the fuel barges are allowed to continue up the Hudson we should be able to see an improvement within a few days. Please continue to conserve fuel.
